As flood waters recede, many Iowa farmers close to river beds are losing crops.

In Hopkinton, much bigger problems are popping up in fields, like boats.

That's right, boats.
Some are out in open pastures, but many are hidden behind corn crops. The boats along with a lot of debris drifted downstream when the Lake Delhi dam broke.
Now farmers are finding them everywhere, along with a lot of debris. There were at least seven in farmer Joe Hoeger’s crops.

"I knew it was bad when I saw boat after boat after boat, docks, gas cans. I knew it was bad then,” Hopkinton farmer, Joe Hoeger said.

Farmers say if the corn doesn’t get moldy or rot it could be saved. But getting it out of the fields this fall will be tricky with left-over debris.
DNR is working with farmers in Delaware Co. writing down boat numbers to find out who owns them.
Joe hopes the boats are gone soon and back to whom they belong. He already caught a couple of looters coming around his field, trying to help themselves.
